Multan Airport.
Multan airport is located in the Cantonment area of the city and is well connected to the country through daily flights. It is a small airport but extension work is alredy underway.
There are two weekly international flights to/from Dubai. Moreover there are daily flights available to/from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Faisalabad and Quetta. More national & international destinations will be added after completion of the extension work.
Being the only airport in the region it caters a large number of population. So if you are planning to visit Multan it is always advisable to book your seat beforehand as most of the flights are pretty stuffed up.
Airport is 5 minutes drive from the main cantonment and 15 minutes drive from the city center. Taxi cabs are available at the airport which will charge you anywhere between 75-300 rs depending upon your destination. Airport also has a cafeteria which is near the parking area and a Tuck shop in the airport's waiting lounge.
As for now two airline companies offer there devices i.e, PIA, which is the national airline of Pakistan and Shaheen Airline which has some low fare flights but to selective destinations. Another Pakistani airline known as AirBlue is also planning to start its services. They have the 'wide-belly' planes and are waiting for the extension work to end.
The airport itself is under the control of Civil Aviation Authority or CAA of Pakistan. The same authority controls all the civil airports of Pakistan. A special security force known as the airport security force or ASF is responsible for the safety of the passengers.
